Project Overview
Team Members: Yixiao Zhang, Jared Teiger, Sadie Martin
Duration: August 2024 - Jan 2025
Award Status: HRI2025 Student Design Challenge accepted
Project Statement:
Waiting in line often leads to boredom and limited social interaction. This paper presents "Social Queue," a robotic stanchion pole with responsive tentacles on top that interact with people through multiple modes of interaction, designed to engage and sustain users' attention while waiting. This research aims to explore how the interactive robot affects perceived waiting time and enhances people's enjoyment level in line through a field-based, between-group experiment.
